Congratulations to Jack Monnig – EDS Alumnus

Jack Monnig of Boy Scout Troop #45 and a member of the EDS class of 2015 has earned the honor of Eagle Scout, the highest rank offered by the Boy Scouts of America. Only 4 to 5 percent of Boy Scout members ever attain this prestigious honor.

Jack, a sophomore at Augusta Prep, achieved 33 merit badges, 12 over the minimum required to receive the Eagle Scout award. For his final project, he constructed eight large picnic tables out of weather-treated wood to replace the many small tables already in place in the outdoor commons area of Augusta Prep.  After building the tables at home with the invaluable help of friends, brothers and fellow Scouts, they are now in place and are being used daily by students and faculty alike.

“I could not have done this without the indispensable help of my friends, family, Scout leaders as well as Peter Huestis and the Augusta Prep community.  I am very grateful for you and your support on this journey.”

Jack’s Eagle Court of Honor was on April 23, 2017 at Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church in Augusta.
