Young Panthers Take to the Soccer Fields
If you have been at EDS in the afternoons this spring, you may have noticed a whole lot of soccer going on. Why is that? Well, for the first time in history, EDS has developed a soccer program for preschool through 5th grade children, and the program has been a huge success! Currently, ninety kids from EDS and from outside the EDS community, make up nine EDS soccer teams in the program. All nine teams play through the Wilson YMCA spring soccer league.
Nine teams practice right after school on varying days throughout the week. Every child and every team is coached in practice by fabulous Arsenal soccer coaches, and our wonderful parent coaches coach the kids for their games.
For parents, evening soccer practices that don’t interfere with homework and dinner time have been a blessing! It has been a plus for the kids as well. They get to play with their friends and play for EDS, all while being coached by professional soccer coaches.
Games are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday nights at the Wilson Y. If you are in the area, stop by and cheer them on. You can’t miss them; just look for the big EDS logo on the backs of their jerseys!
Go Panthers!
