Harnessing the Sun’s Energy

In the fifth grade, the students have been learning about solar energy and doing investigations using the sun’s energy. They learned how different materials react when placed in the sun and how to trap the energy from the sun. As a culmination to this module, the students designed and built their own solar ovens. On November 12th, they carried their ovens to the Flowing Wells property and cooked their lunches. The menu included nachos and s’mores. What a great way to harness the sun’s energy!
