Honoring Our Country’s Veterans
The Episcopal Day School’s Veterans Day Assembly was held on Wednesday, November 11, and led by our student council officers: Jack A., Beth C., Jack F., and Dodie S. Fort Gordon’s Delta Company 551st Signal Battalion served as our color guard, and The Reverend Robert D. Fain, LCDR, USNR, Retired, led our opening prayer. Following the Pledge of Allegiance, Saint Cecilia’s Choir sang “The Star-Spangled Banner.” Fifth grade students Jane Sutton A., Tyesha H., Macon J., Sam J., Carlisle O., Bryce P., and Bill T. shared their reflections about the importance of Veterans Day, and the second grade sang “The Preamble.”
Our guest speaker was Captain Odis T. Robinson, United States Army, who is currently with Delta Company, 551st Signal Battalion at Fort Gordon, here in Augusta. Afterwards, students and guests participated in the “Armed Forces Medley,” standing during the appropriate song if they or members of their family have served or are currently serving in the United States Armed Forces. EDS is proud to honor America’s veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.
