New Enrichment Opportunity for Young Actors and Actresses in the CSRA

EDS is excited to offer a brand new enrichment opportunity for young actors and actresses in the CSRA! Playmakers will be offered Monday nights from 5:15-6:15 at The Episcopal Day School. Run by Mary Anne Symms, local acting coach/teacher, who has years of experience with youth theater. This class is open to Elementary/Lower School and Middle School students of all ages who are looking to increase their acting experience and opportunities. Dates for the class are 2/6, 2/13, 2/27, 3/6, 3/13, 3/20, 3/27. The cost to participate is $145. Please register through this link.

This class helps students gain confidence and grow as young artists. Before actors take their places for a show, they must audition and rehearse. In this class, students will first learn how to audition effectively. Then using scripted scenes, they will explore the rehearsal process while learning about character development, character relationships, blocking, vocal projection, ensemble skills, and memorization techniques. We will incorporate fun improv exercises and other theatre games each class in addition to rehearsing scenes from classic children’s theatre.

If you are looking for something right after school and your student does not have experience acting, our Act Up! Theater enrichment begins its second session in March and you can sign up now!
