Teaching and Employment Opportunities at Episcopal Day School

We encourage applications from all candidates.

At EDS, we strive to ensure each member of our community is and feels:

  • Welcomed, connected, and included
  • Known and appreciated
  • Cared-for and well-served
  • Engaged and invested
  • Challenged, supported, and successful

This vision of community guides our work and shapes how we teach, learn, and collaborate.

As colleagues and administrators, we are committed to bringing this vision of our community to life. We connect newcomers through mentorship and collegiality. We make teachers’ work visible through collaboration and observation. We acknowledge and celebrate one another, and we care for each other in small ways and through life’s significant events. Most importantly, we want each person to be challenged to grow through professional development, constructive feedback, and leadership opportunities.

As educators, we play a pivotal role in ensuring that our students and their families feel the same way. Teachers and coaches must convey the sense of belonging, competence, significance, and power that all students need to thrive–all while having fun! This work comes to life through:

  • Delivering rich content through research-based best practice
  • Maintaining a connection to and understanding of each student that shapes instructional decisions
  • Creating engaging experiences that inspire students to work hard and dig deeper
  • Providing developmentally appropriate challenges and artfully crafted support to maximize opportunities for growth
  • Balancing grace and accountability in ways that unlock a child’s potential

Our Hiring Process

We appreciate our applicants’ time and aim to make the experience as transparent and positive as possible.  Letters of recommendation, transcripts, and other formal documentation will only be requested as needed. Applicants will be informed as we move through the selection process.

The school interviews those individuals considered most qualified for the position, typically through an initial phone or video interview. Local candidates may be invited for an on-campus initial interview. Finalists are invited to campus for a full day of interviews, class visits, and, for classroom teachers, a demonstration lesson.

Salary, Benefits, and Cost of Living

Our community values teachers’ work in a variety of ways. We offer competitive salaries and benefits, a supportive work environment, and a livable community. Benefits include: covering a large percentage of health insurance premiums for the employee and their family; dental, vision, and life insurance; short and long-term disability insurance; a matching retirement plan that includes a Roth option; and support for graduate coursework and other professional development.

Living in Augusta offers a blend of affordability, opportunity, and Southern charm that makes it attractive for both work and daily life. The city boasts a low cost of living (see table below), especially in housing, while still providing access to a growing job market driven by healthcare, cybersecurity, manufacturing, and the military presence at Fort Eisenhower. Residents enjoy a mild climate, easy commutes, and plentiful outdoor recreation along the Savannah River and canal trails. With a vibrant arts scene, historic neighborhoods, and significant events like the Masters Tournament, Augusta provides a comfortable, community-oriented lifestyle with big-city amenities at a more relaxed pace.
