The Science Department spent several hours out at Flowing Wells Campus revisiting the Chemical Protocols and methods of testing water quality of our own Raes Creek headwaters in order to earn official recertification from the Georgia Adopt-A-Stream program. Georgia Adopt-A-Stream (AAS) is a statewide volunteer water quality monitoring program. AAS encourages individuals and communities to monitor and/or improve sections of streams, wetlands, lakes or estuaries and provides on-going training and assistance to communities through a statewide web of data collection.
The Science Department is working hard ( and having great fun) to integrate AAS Chemical protocols and testing into our EDS curriculum, provide opportunities for students to assist in monitoring our creek, and design a monthly sampling program as part of AAS.
