Each One, Teach One

Fifth graders at EDS begin to understand why the colonist revolted against the British government. They implemented the concept of “each one, teach one” where each group researched a different act passed by Parliament: the Sugar Act of 1764 , the Currency Act of 1765, the Stamp Act of 1765 , and the Quartering Act of 1765.  Next, they presented and taught their classmates about the law (act) they were assigned. By the end of the year, fifth grade will understand Why America is Free (the title of the book they are currently reading.)
