States Fair 2014!
The annual 4th Grade States Fair has been an important EDS community event for more than 20 years. Students draw for their states in early January and begin the research portion of the project.
Over the years, States Fair has evolved into a true cross-curricular project encompassing not only the original subject of social studies, but also including reading, writing, math, computer technology, library study time, music, and art! Even when the actual fair is over, the project continues for another week as 4th graders gather together to listen to each other’s speeches and learn from the backboards that are presented. In this way the knowledge gained by one is spread to all.
This year’s state fair was a huge success! EDS is so very proud of how hard these dedicated students worked on their presentations and of how much they learned in the process. Also, a big thanks to the parents who helped with and manned the state-specific spread of refreshments!
