2017-2018 EDS Spelling Bee News!
The Scripps National Spelling Bee is the nation’s largest and longest-running educational promotion, sponsoring spelling bees for students in the United States and around the world.
Classroom spelling bees were held on Monday, October 9, in third through eighth grades. Classroom winners in fourth through eighth grades competed in the school-wide spelling bee on Friday, October 20??, in the gym.
This year’s competitors included 4th graders Marion B., Maddie C., and Claire S.; 5th graders Banks E. and Aidan L.; 6th graders Anne Marshall M. and Trav W.; 7th graders Reid B. and Jacob C.; and 8th graders Carter R. and Ben S.
Anne Marshall M. became our school champion in the eighth round after correctly spelling administration and the championship word, affirmation. Anne Marshall will represent EDS at the next level of competition in the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Our runner-up, Jacob C., will be prepared to represent EDS, if Anne Marshall is unable to compete. Congratulations to all our extraordinary EDS spellers!
