Panther Nation
It’s time to celebrate a successful winter athletic season. Our panthers ventured into the wild and faced our enemy head to head. The JR varsity girls basketball team finished undefeated at 8 – 0. The boys JR varsity basketball team finished with a winning record of 5 – 3. Our cheerleaders are, of course, the best in the land and kept the fans and players pumped up; full of school spirit and panther pride.
The swim team headed to GA Tech in Atlanta for the GISA State Championship meet. The boys finished in 2nd place out of 20 teams, and we had two individual records set by an 8th grader. The girls finished in 9th place out of fifteen teams. Our Panthers combined to finish 3rd overall!
In addition to outstanding overall performances by the entire team, Nathan Alleyne also broke 2 GISA State records. He earned the 50 freestyle record last year as a 7th grader with a time of 24.14 seconds. This year, he beat his own record by swimming 23.39 seconds. He also broke the record for 50 yard butterfly by swimming a time of 25.90 seconds.
The boys and girls varsity basketball teams brought their “A” game this past weekend as they competed in end-of-season tournaments. The boys made it to the final four, falling to the Cavaliers of Augusta Prep for a third time this year. The girls looked to revenge an earlier season loss to Mead Hall in the championship game. They clawed and fought but came up short to a very stout defense.
Thank you Panther Nation for supporting our Panther athletes and the athletic program. With the spring season just around the corner I look forward to seeing you all at the games.
