During the first semester 24 students from 5-8 grade participated in the STEM Explorations Club each Friday afternoon.  The theme of the semester was Rube Goldberg Machines.  What’s a Rube Goldberg Machine?  A Rube Goldberg machine is a contraption, invention, device, or apparatus that is deliberately over-engineered to perform a simple task in a complicated fashion, generally including a chain reaction. The expression is named after American cartoonist and inventor Rube Goldberg (1883–1970).  Students on took this year’s national challenge-to create a Rube Goldberg machine that can place a bandage on an object.
