STEM Club Implements Recycling Initiative on Campus

Have you ever noticed the amount of plastic bottles, aluminum cans and paper trash generated in our gym as we regularly enjoy our sports teams? Well, some of our students certainly have. Our EDS STEM Explorations Club members have spent the last several months investigating the topic of trash and recycling. From actually sorting through several bags of trash collected after an evening of sports games to researching the benefits and pitfalls of recycling, from touring the Augusta-Richmond County Landfill and learning about the engineering behind this massive community effort to manage our trash to developing a proposal for our school, these industrious student leaders have charged forward to make a difference on campus.  Based on the STEM Club proposal,  recycling bins are now here and club members have been busily presenting their learning to classes in both the lower and middle school. Be on the lookout for bins in the gym for paper, plastic and aluminum. The STEM Club encourages everyone to be a “Green Superhero!”
