From the Chaplain: Ash Wednesday

Ash_Wednesday
Wednesday, February 10 is Ash Wednesday, the first day of the Season of Lent. 3rd-8th graders will gather for a Celebration of the Holy Eucharist with Imposition of Ashes at 8:30 a.m. and parents are welcome (and encouraged!) to join us. The homily will address the traditional Lenten practices of “giving up” or “taking on,” and will be partially inspired by this article.
Pope Francis, in his wisdom, has reminded us that fasting (giving up) for Lent “must never become superficial” and should (like all of our best efforts in faith) do some good for other people. The Pope recommends that Christians abstain from indifference towards others during the Season of Lent, because “when we fast from this indifference, we can begin to feast on love” … and that sounds like a fruitful and faithful opportunity!
