Many Gifts, One Purpose
Each year, Episcopal Day School chooses a theme that shapes the school year. Teachers and administrators prayerfully reflect on where God is leading our community and select a scripture that will guide our learning, worship, and life together. From that message, we create an image that serves as a visual reminder of the year’s focus.
This year’s theme, Many Gifts, One Purpose, comes from 1 Corinthians 12:4-7, where Paul reminds us that God has given each of us unique gifts. While our talents, interests, and abilities may differ, they all come from the same God and are meant to be used for the good of others.
At Episcopal Day School, every student has something valuable to contribute. Whether those gifts are found in the classroom, on the stage, on the athletic field, in the arts, through leadership, or in quiet acts of kindness, each one has an important place in our community. This year’s theme encourages students to discover the gifts God has given them, develop those gifts with purpose, and use them in service to others.
Throughout the year, students will explore Many Gifts, One Purpose in Chapel, classrooms, service learning, and school traditions. Our prayer is that they will come to recognize that every person has been uniquely created by God and that, when we each use our gifts faithfully, we strengthen our school, our community, and the world around us.
Theme Song
Our school theme, Many Gifts, One Purpose, has its own song! This summer, 44 EDS students helped record three versions of the song for Preschool, Lower School, and Middle School.
