EDS Music: Project Garageband

Second grade started a year-long project of recording a song in a digital recording studio by using the Garageband app on their EDS iPads. They started by trying out different drum kits and establishing a beat pattern using quarter notes, eighth notes, and quarter rests.

Next week they will start laying down the drum tracks. As they record each track, they will see the sound waves they create and will learn to edit and manipulate these sound waves to their liking. Each week, they will add more tracks (guitar, bass, keyboard, etc… most any instrument they can dream up is available at their fingertips). Once the song is built, they will start composing melodies, then lyrics, and finally, each child will record their vocals tracks using a Blue Snowball iCE USB Microphone. And it’s gonna rock.
